New York Giants Vs. Denver Broncos Week 7 NFL Betting Predictions, Picks and Parlays
Big Blue's Rookie Rush Faces a Mile High Test
The New York Giants, off an eye-opening win over Philadelphia Eagles and full of new swagger, marches into Empower Field at Mile High this Sunday to face a tough Denver Broncos side. G-Men, under the guidance of their flashy rookie tandem of quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo, have given an adrenaline shot to a season that was on life support a short while ago. Dart, with all-or-nothing scrambles and big-time throws, has already become the center of conversation, and Skattebo's between-the-tackles-type running has provided the offense with much-needed identity.
But the week's feel-good story was thrown a possible wrench on Friday when star rookie linebacker Abdul Carter was added to the injury report with a hamstring problem. Carter, who was a limited participant in Friday's practice, is now also listed on official grounds as questionable in the contest. A week-end addition to the injury report always sends up red flags, and the possible loss of even the disruptive pass-rusher would be a big blow to a Giants defense that's bracing itself for a stiff test. Commenting on the possible loss, Carter was noncommittal and only said that "everything will be settled on Sunday."
Carter's performance will be important since the Giants defense faces a well-balanced Broncos offense. Though Denver's offense with quarterback Bo Nix has been effective, it's the defense that has been eye-catching. Broncos have the number-one defense in the league and top the NFL in sacks with 30. They have been a total nightmare on quarterback quarterbacks, and you know they can't wait to get their hands on a rookie quarterback, however bright he may be.
The secret to this game will be if the Giants line protects Dart from the Broncos non-stop pressure on the pass rush. They have given him time, and he has shown capable of making some big plays with both arms and legs. With or without Carter, the Giants defense has its work cut out for it. They’ll need a smart plan to slow down a Broncos offense that’s been almost unstoppable at home, where they’ve won seven straight. It’s shaping up to be a fun matchup — a fresh, fast-rising offense taking on a battle-tested defense in the thin air of the Rockies.
That thin air is giving the Broncos a huge advantage, according to bookmakers - they're -350 on the moneyline. That screams stay away, so I'd recommend the Giants +7 for a Sunday NFL boost to the bankroll. I'm also looking to cash in on a 2 team parlay with NY moneyline plus the under.
