Chargers Vs. Dolphins Betting Picks and Predictions NFL Week 6

Injuries Could Tank Chargers Run Game vs. Fins

Sunday's late afternoon tilt pits two teams struggling with identity issues. The Chargers (3-2) are still trying to recover from a 34-28 home defeat to Washington, where Justin Herbert threw a season-low 166 yards, and a lot of their offense's equilibrium went by way of rookie workhouse ankle injury sufferer Omarion Hampton, who's going to end up on injured reserve.

With the offensive line also banged up, coach Sean McVay plans a committee backfield. Analysts warn not to overspend on Kimani Vidal or Hassan Haskins—Los Angelesranks 26th in yards before contact and 29th in points per drive, and Haskins' edge over Vidal comes mainly on special teams snaps. There is chatter the Bolts could sign a veteran if the run game sputters.

Miami resides at 1-4 following a stomach punch defeat at Charlotte. Tua Tagovailoa and weapons scored points, yet defense once again wilted and Dolphins lost 27-24. Tagovailoa has thrown for 10 TDs against four picks, yet been pushed to rely on Jaylen Waddle and De'Von Achane as Tyreek Hill recovers from a knee injury. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio's unit allowed Panthers back Rico Dowdle to run wild and now faces a rested Herbert.

Miami also lost linebacker Tyrel Dodson (head) going into Week 5. Dodson's on concussion protocol and it's still unclear if he'll be ready for this game. Corner Cornell Armstrong (hamstring), now back to where it all started in 2018, won't be back for a couple of weeks.

Oddsmakers installed Los Angeles around –5½ (that's now shifted to -4) and project a 27-24 Chargers win with roughly a 69% probability. But with Hampton sidelined and the Chargers' offensive line in flux, many bettors are grabbing the points and trusting Mike McDaniel's offense to keep pace.

Herbert still has Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston to attack Miami's shaky secondary. If the Dolphins' defensive woes continue, this could become a shootout despite the Chargers' backfield questions.

Los Angeles will rely on Vidal and Hassan Haskins to fill in for Hampton. Miami's offense is still productive despite its 1-4 record, yet its defense has been collapsing. A Chargers victory seems inevitable, at -210 on the moneyline, but bettors are taking the Dolphins +4 points because of the injuries.
