Alamo Bowl Picks, Parlays and Betting Predictions for USC Trojans Vs. TCU Horned Frogs
Alamo Dome Fireworks: Trojans and Frogs Shorthanded
USC and TCU are heading to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl, but you might need a program to figure out who’s actually on the field. This game is the poster child for the "Opt-Out Era." Lincoln Riley is bringing his Trojans into their first-ever trip to the Alamodome with a roster that’s seen nearly a dozen players skip out. The biggest blows are on the perimeter; star wideouts Makai Lemon and Ja’Kobi Lane are officially prepping for the NFL Draft and won’t be suiting up. That leaves Jayden Maiava with a very young, very unproven receiving corps to work with.
TCU isn't exactly at full strength either, but they’ve got a different kind of momentum. Sonny Dykes managed to salvage an 8-4 season with a strong finish in the Big 12, and they’ve stayed relatively "intact" compared to the Southern Cal exodus. The Frogs are led by linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr, a PFF darling who has been an absolute brick wall in run defense. If USC can’t find a rhythm with their new-look passing game, Elarms-Orr and that TCU front are going to make it a long night for Maiava.
There’s also some spicy coaching drama on the USC side. Defensive line coach Shaun Nua is reportedly a top candidate for the BYU defensive coordinator gig. Dealing with coaching rumors while trying to fix a defense that has struggled with consistency all year isn't a great recipe for success. TCU is hungry to prove they belong in the upper echelon of the Big 12, and beating a "brand name" like USC—even a depleted one—is exactly the kind of fuel they need heading into 2026.
Betting Picks & Predictions
The oddsmakers have USC as a 6 1/2-point favorite, but that number could shrink before the game. Currently, the total is hovering at around 55 1/2.
Both these teams love to air it out, but with USC’s top weapons gone, the Under looks enticing. However, TCU’s motivation seems much higher here. Expect a tight, scrappy game where the Frogs' stability wins out over USC’s raw talent. Prediction: TCU wins a tig
